NDSM was already a vibrant cultural hotspot: a former shipyard on the banks of the IJ River in Amsterdam North. With its urban beach and river views, the challenge was to create a multi-story parking garage that could support a thriving business community and ever-expanding variety of trendy cafes and eco-conscious restaurants, while giving local residents space to catch their breath.
